On the day I took these photographs, I woke up a few hundred kilometres away from this place. I have been to this place years ago, and also about two weeks before. Unfortunately, autumn was way later this year so I was looking forward to give it another go. During break of dawn, I hiked up to a waterfall, took a few images and then started my car ride in direction of this valley. According to the weather forecast, the clouds were supposed to lift up during the day. Therefore, an interesting scenery might happen. To arrive in time, I kind of raced the streets. As I arrived, I immediately grabbed my gear and hiked into the valley in a hurry. As excepted, the sun showed up for the first time only little later. The scenery was even better than I had imaged. I was really amazed by the autumnal colours all on the steep walls around. I took a few shots and then continued to hike up in direction of a viewpoint I had in mind. It was way too warm that day and soon I was pretty exhausted due to the heavy gear and effort. As I finally approached the viewpoint, I started photography and had a simple but well-deserved meal. Four years ago, I was feeling lonely at this place but didn’t do this very day. I really wondered why no one else was around to see this scenery; except from one or two just hiking past. Frankly, I was lucky about it. After some time, I hiked down the valley again in quite a hurry because I had planned to photograph the possible sunset from a different direction. Unfortunately, I missed the right path and instead hiked up pretty steep slopes of a forest until I was exhausted as hell and realized it wouldn’t lead to anything. Fortunately, I wasn’t too mad about it, the sky was clouded again and I couldn’t complain in any way about this day. Exhausted but happy, I continued my travel with a night ride in a different region.
Sometimes I do think it is necessary in photography to be more pleased about the results and not trying to score more and more without any halt, and appreciation of success.
